Talent does not remain static. It moves between countries, institutions, and communities, carrying knowledge, experience, and new perspectives with it. Between Portugal and the United Kingdom, this circulation has been driven by generations of students, researchers, professionals, and leaders who, over the years, have built paths beyond borders and helped strengthen the links between the two countries.
The Portuguese diaspora plays a central role in this process. More than a geographically dispersed community, it is a dynamic network of people and organisations that promotes the exchange of knowledge, creates opportunities for collaboration, and generates impact in both local and international contexts.
LUSO 2026 aims to explore the theme of talent in motion and the role of transnational communities in building bridges between Portugal and the United Kingdom. Bringing together institutional partners, members of the community, and members of the diaspora, the event aims to reflect on how mobility can foster innovation, strengthen collaboration networks, and create shared value for both countries.
In an increasingly interconnected world, links between people, institutions, and communities are essential for addressing complex challenges and creating new opportunities. By celebrating journeys that cross borders and the networks that bring different realities closer together, LUSO seeks to inspire a vision of the future based on collaboration, the circulation of knowledge, and collective impact.
